We booked two nights at this venue for our anniversary and was expecting a fantastic experience as it had great reviews. We loved the quaint venue, comfortable beds and tasteful decor. There was adequate heating during a particularly cold spell. However, the room was very small and we had to share a tiny bedside table that could barely house a lamp, never mind our cell phones, tablets and spectacles! But my biggest gripe was with the 'private bathroom'. It did not have a bath (only a step-in shower), so was hardly a bathroom, and it faced a public utility room and passage, so was hardly private. Also, there was no way one could shower safely as 1) the shower floor was horribly uneven, 2) there were no grab bars to hold on to, and 3) there was no shelf within easy reach for toiletries such as shampoo (I had to put everything on the shower floor which increased the risk of slipping). I had a shower once, but did not enjoy it at all as I was so afraid of slipping. My elderly spouse didn't risk it at all and went without a shower for two days. The owners really need to make this shower safer for guests. The breakfasts on both mornings were fine, we got exactly what we asked for. But this is a farm -- why no homemade bread and jam on the table? Maybe I was just expecting too much. Still, we had a warm Devon welcome!
